Welcome
Welcome to Your Wahroonga Electrical Team
Wahroonga takes its name from an Aboriginal word meaning "our home". It is a leafy Upper North Shore suburb with a heritage village feel, and our local team knows the streets behind the hedges.
We hold NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C and we are members of Master Electricians Australia.
That is the boring half. The other half is a sparkie who explains what he is doing and cleans up behind himself. Who we are, if you want the detail.

Local knowledge
Local Knowledge, From Federation Wiring to New Builds
Wahroonga's character peaked in the 1920s and 1930s, and the housing stock still shows it.
Grand old homes sit on large garden blocks: Federation most of all, plus Colonial Revival and the Arts and Crafts style, in brick, double brick and weatherboard. Later brick houses and the unit blocks near the station fill in the rest.
Three building waves, and each one left a different problem behind:
- Pre-1940. Double brick gives cable a hard time, and the garden blocks around Water Street and Burns Road mean long runs out to garages, sheds and garden lighting. A rewire here is nothing like a rewire in a brick veneer.
- 1960s to 1980s. These houses were wired for a fraction of what a family plugs in now, so circuits tend to get added on rather than rethought, until something finally gives.
- 2000s onward. Strata is its own animal: a shared board, a building manager to get past, and access booked well in advance.
The newest pressure is EV chargers.
Owner-occupier households here keep adding them, and on an older service that means the supply and the board get assessed before the charger is even chosen. Sometimes the honest answer is a switchboard upgrade first, then the charger.
Emergency Electrical Help Across Wahroonga
Most electrical jobs can sit until Tuesday. This list cannot.
- A burning smell around a power point or the switchboard
- Scorch marks, or a socket too hot to touch
- Sparks when you plug something in
- An RCD that will not stay on when you reset it
- No power in half the place while next door is fine
- Water coming through a light fitting or into the meter box
If the whole street is dark, that is an Ausgrid network fault and it is theirs to fix. Your side of the switchboard is ours.
Wahroonga sits high on the ridge, about 202 metres up, so winter nights get genuinely cold. All that reverse-cycle heating load runs back through the board, and a tired old one tends to say so in July.
While you wait, switch the circuit off at the board and leave it off. Then call (02) 9538 7356 and ask for an emergency electrician.
How we work
Our Process, From First Call to Handover
No mystery, and no meter ticking over in the corner. Four steps from your first call to the paperwork landing in your inbox, and the price is agreed before any work starts.
- 01
Tell Us What It Is Doing
Describe the fault in plain words. A real person answers the phone, books the job in, and sends a reminder text so the morning is not a surprise.
- 02
We Look Before We Talk Money
One of our sparkies comes to you, looks properly, and walks through the options from budget to premium. No leaning and no upsell, with nothing booked until you say so.
- 03
The Work, Done Tidy
Drop sheets go down, rubbish leaves with us, and the gear that goes in is the gear we said. If something genuinely unforeseen turns up behind a wall, we down tools, explain it, and agree the change with you before carrying on.
- 04
Tested, Certified, Handed Back
Everything gets tested, and notifiable work gets a Certificate of Compliance lodged with NSW Fair Trading. Photos and the compliance report follow by email once we are done.
Why So Many Locals Choose Us
Most of these homes are owned by the people living in them, and plenty of those families have been in the same house for decades.
They are not chasing whoever answers first. They want a sparkie they can keep calling, and paperwork that still stacks up when the place eventually sells.
Quick, and Honest About When
Bookings are often same or next day. If something slips, you get a call before we are late rather than an apology afterwards.
Backed for Life
Our workmanship carries a lifetime guarantee, with a 12-month product warranty over the top. It does not lapse, and when we return under it the labour is on us.
$50 Off Your First Job
New customers take $50 off the first service. Quotes are free, written, and cost you nothing if you decide to go elsewhere.
The Reviews Do the Talking
600+ five-star reviews, and a fair share are repeat customers ringing about the next place. Hugh's version was that it all happened the way we said it would, and he liked the two blokes who came out.
How we compare
How We Compare, Side by Side
We are not the cheapest sparkie you will ring and we do not pretend to be. Here is what the difference actually buys you, next to what plenty of outfits still do.

Safe and Compliant on Every Job
Bad electrical work does not simply stop working. It starts fires, and it surfaces years later when a buyer's conveyancer starts asking for paperwork.
So the dull parts, the standards and the certificates, are exactly where we are strictest.
Every Job to AS/NZS 3000
AS/NZS 3000 sets how the work is actually done, top to bottom. It is also why two quotes for one job can look nothing alike: one is pricing the standard, the other is pricing around it.
The Certificate, Lodged Properly
Notifiable work gets a Certificate of Compliance lodged with NSW Fair Trading, not promised and forgotten. You will want that on file the day someone asks for it.
Insured, Both Ways
Public liability cover, workers comp, both current. That matters exactly once: the day something goes wrong and somebody has to wear it.
Members of Master Electricians Australia
Membership means an outside body has looked at how we work, not just at our licence. Not every sparkie bothers, which tells you something on its own.
Licensed, insured & guaranteed
Credentials You Can Check
Nothing below is a slogan. Every line is checkable before you let us near your switchboard, and we would rather you checked.

Common questions
Your Electrical Questions, Answered
The six we get asked most, answered straight. Yours not among them? The FAQ page goes further.
Do you charge a call-out fee in Wahroonga?
No. Quotes are free and there is no call-out fee for us to come and look, whether you are here or over at Normanhurst. Nothing is payable until you have a written price in your hand and you have agreed to it.
Is my old switchboard dangerous?
It can be. Ceramic fuses, no safety switches, or a board that trips whenever the heater and the kettle run together are all worth a look. We will say plainly what needs doing and what does not.
How much does an electrician cost in Wahroonga?
The price we quote is the price you pay. Someone comes out and sees the real job rather than guessing down the phone, then writes it down for you before anything starts. We don't charge by the hour.
Is there an electrician near Wahroonga open on weekends?
We work Monday to Friday, seven to five, and weekends can be arranged. Genuine emergencies get answered around the clock, whatever day it is. If we are already out at Hornsby or Turramurra, we are not far away.
Can you install an EV charger at home?
Yes, and it starts with the board rather than the charger. We check the existing service can handle the extra draw, fix it where it cannot, then mount the unit, commission it and show you how it runs.
What brands of switches and fittings do you install?
Clipsal and Hager switchgear. Light fittings are generally SAL, or Beacon Lighting where the look matters. All premium gear, not cheap imports, and covered by a 12-month product warranty on top of the maker's own.
